Ok blew a radiator hose. Fixed it and now my car overheating. Thought it was a bubble in the system. But ran it with the cap off. My car smart buddy said it my be the thermostat or water pump. But I can see the water moving a little so I don't think its water pump. Where are the thermostat on these cars

Did you figure out why you blew the hose off to begin with? Possibly the tstat as you mentioned, but did you verify the fan is working too?

it wasnt running hot before the hose blew I figure it was just old. As for the fan I noticed it wasn't working today ......good call

You said you can see the water moving a little?? With the cap off and the tstat and the water level down a little (maybe use a turkey baster to pull some of the fluid out) and the engine idling ...you you rev the engine soem the wtater level should drop and BLAST through the flues...should be no question that is blasting through...if not then somethings wrong.

Its not blasting out when I rev.

H20 pump?
Tstat?
Radiator core?
When wa steh last time these were serviced/replaced?
How many miles on the engine?

Time to buy a 160 degree T'stat from one of the vendors & replace what you have.

Backflush your radiator & see if anything solid comes out.

Time to check your hoses also.

Uhm... Good times.

I love spending money. So I'm excited hahaha

Welcome to the moneypit.....open door and shovel in money.....must use snowshovel

What.... it didnt come on when you were shoveling money in? LOL

Fan comes on when engine get to a certain temp...lets say 160. You says its overheating...I presume you have a temp gauge and scanmaster. What temp did it get to?

Could be several things on why its not coming on ...........Relay(coil open or dirty contacts), wiring (opens), fan (open), resisitor if using the factory fan (open), ecm/connections.

I dont see a chip in your signature...what kind of chip do you have.....TT turn on is around 165 IIRC.

A quick check....

Get a volt meter set it for dc volts 12 volt or higher scale ....watch the temp gauge and when its gets close to the programmed temp turn on.....check for voltage at the fan motor side of the resistor (kinda beige looking square about 2" long mounted of fan with a wire on each end) if all stock.....if not there check the input side of the resistor....if its on input side and not the other then the resistor is open or bad connection/wire.

If you have it to the gan motor side of resistor and it still doesnt work, then its either ground, open wire, bad connection or bad fan motor.

Next shut off car and verify the ground...ohm/continuity check...black wire on connector to neg on battery.

If both are good then ohm the fan motor should read resistance and not Zero (shorted) or Infinity (open).

If you have Hot/+ , Load/Fan, Gnd/- and the paths/wires and connections are legit then it will come on.

If you dont have a Pos signal then you have to get into relays, control to ecm, etc etc and will need electrical schematics

Just a highlight on a quick ops check

You just mind f#cked me with information. I will look at that stuff when I get a chance. It sucks I will miss Ford vs Buick race day

you might want to double check to make sure you dont have an air pocket, recently replaced the stater on my Daily driver and had a similar problem, had to remove the radiator to replace stater, i reassembled everything let car warm up, and topped it off, took for a spin around the block and came back with car almost in the red, when cooled check radiator and it was full , let car run again seemed ok, went for another spin around the block. and same problem almost over heated, parked and then stated to squeeze hoses, and sure enough there was air.

i find it kinda odd that you replace hose and now it run hot, and fans wont turn on, you might have air trapped behind tstat, and not sure which sensor controls controls fan but bet its next to tstat

if im wrong i apologize but something you might really want to check, that might help you make it to your race.

I tried squeezing and I ran the car with the cap off. Nothing

Follow up questions My car got it 230 degrees And I ran it for 4 miles after that .....When I was troubleshooting the overheating issue And started the engine it ran fine what do you think since the temp got so high and I ran it longer than I should have should I change the oil I changed it a week ago but I'm worried I ruined viscosity
