bought some to remove the junk from the underside of the gas tank,,so i used it on a spare passengers mirror, took the paint off real nice...seems like 6-8cans could do the whole car ,,what do you think....
Dennis

It's very caustic. I would rather use something petroleum based on the tank. A rag, lacquer thinner, rubber gloves, and patience can get the job done. It's messy and must be done in a well ventilated area (no gas water heaters please). Put a big piece of cardboard under you and get to work.

John ,tanks done,,wa just seeking info about useing the cans for the whole car,,seems pretty simple...

you are munch better off buying gallons of it at napa or any other autobody shop. when i did my car it went very smooth and to do the whole car it took me 3 gallons.

get aircraft quality. it will save you time and aggravation trust me

Make sure there is no breeze or that stuff will blow back onto your arms a burn a bit. I've found in stripping my GN that chemical stripper worked good on some areas and didn't work for sh#t on other areas. Maybe your car will be different, but I would plan on a lot of elbow grease. Not all "Aircraft Stripper" is created equal. I'd bet the brush on type would be more potent than anything in an spray can.

If your going to use Aircraft stripper. Use the stuff made by Mar-Hyde. Its in a blue can and has a picture of an air plane on it. The suff in a regular can goes much ferther then the stuff in a spray can. Do it in a well ventalated area and in the shade. It dries to fast in the direct sun. Leave it on long enough to lift the paint all the way. Then scrape it off with a plastic bondo spreader. The riense with a water hose. Be very careful its will burn your eyes not to mention your skin. Becareful if you let it dry on the car its twice as hard to remove later. It won't remove all of it. After your done there will be some areas that will have to be sanded to get the paint all the way off.

I restore muscle cars and bild customs for a living. I only use it for small items. For an entire car I use plastic media. Its a little pricey but it gets everything off, dosen't hurt any chrome or glass and it gets done in one day.
