Hi Guys.I want to paint black my new fuel tank.Any tips?.Which paint?Spray or brush?I need your advice. Thanks:confused:

The original color of the gas tank was silver/grey. I spray painted mine when I had it out for the fuel pump. With rustolium silver.

The POR-15 is great stuff however. I did my transmission with the Sterling Silver shade. Looks great.

The nice thing about silver gas tank is that you can see it from the car behind you. Black suspension, yellow shocks, silver tank. Nice combo.

But if originality isn't a priority, black would be nice, tank would blend in unnoticed.

Your car...your choice.

Just rattle bomb it chassis black and be done with it. The black hides better than silver and looks better, IMO.

Powdercoat it shiny silver...

Silver is the way to go...if u want it to look @ its best !

My 86 GN was painted black. I've had it since 87 so I'm pretty sure it rolled off the line like that. I'm guessing after awhile GM needed to save a buck or two and they stopped painting them.

I left mine black. I did put new straps on it and cleaned up the insulation rubbers. I left the straps their natural galvinized finish. It looks really sharp, especially when it's on the car trailer.
