I may try and replace the Torque converter lock up solenoid in the 84 T of mine. My question is: I know what to ask for when it comes to the solenoid but what is the exact terminology for that switch on the driver side of the trans that has the square plug?

Thats just an electrical connector. The TCC solenoid plugs into it from the inside. They usually don't need replacing. You can replace the O-ring if its leaking from there.
