I'm looking into getting a TE-44 or TA-49, 50's, 206 cam, and ported heads. Any way I would be able to pass emmissions with this setup?

Anybody pass emmissions with 50's? I think it would be a PITA to put the stockers back in just for emmissions.

Glen, Yes you can, as long as you have a cat. You need to get a chip which I actually have a spare you can borrow! Burned by joe lubrant, you will just need to turn your FP down to 42 psi and turn your boost all the way down. And a little G2P helps also! I am in richton park if you want to pick it up in frankfort or something, let me know.

Hey bud hows it going?
I still want to check your car out some time. Do you ever drive it to work? I always look when I drive by. What are your hours?

I don't have any of the mods done to my car yet, just planning it out right now. I want to make sure of all this stuff before I spend all my money.;)

I second that. But you have to use a three-way-cat (TWC), or you'll most likely fail NOx. I noticed IL uses I/M240, so the engine will have to run pretty efficient. Also, your EGR should function properly, you may be able to reduce NOx with a little richer mixture, but the TWC and EGR system can control over 2000ppm of NOx (I'm not sure of the conversion between grams/mile and parts / million).

Just passed Colorado's I/M 240 with 50s. All I did was add a cat from ATR. (Thanks Lance) I was running a 100 octaine chip from Jim Testa and a tank full of 100 UL.

<----a Failure!;)

I went and took mine in on friday. I passed everything with flying colors except HC's. I have no cat but had the chip in fp down, and 2 bottles of g2p. Requirements for hydrocarbons is 2.0 i was at 3.2. No doubt in my mine if you have a cat, I would have passed.

by the way bud, i too have a few parts not in yet but most in, just switched to accel dfi and msd dis 4 so gotta install that. I work 6am-2pm almost every day in the grocery stocking floor between isles 2-8 :D . My work car is in the parking lot, a Salso Red dropped Dodge 2001 neon with 17inch wheels and obx exhaust etc., i usually park in the back almost lined up with the front doors.

Whats up guys, me and some guys from work are going to 66 on tues. july 30. Hey 442, i bought some 36's today, You guys need to move down to kankakee county by me , no emmissions testing required:D . Hey scott you gonna get that thing to 41 this year.

Sure thing Jet, I will definitely get to 41 this year along with surej. I only have the DFI, Converter, and MSD DIS 4 to install. Then the dyno tuning, and im out to the track. Oh yeah and the line lock. Ill let you know. Hey Jet, let me register my car at your house so I wont have to take those damn emissions lol.

I hear ya on that emmissions thing, i was about to go get tested and asked my neighbor where to go and he said" i dunna know, i have never gone before" so i found out kankakee county doenst do emmissions.:D :D :D Good luck on the project. we will be at 66 next tuesday.

Hey Jetmech-
Me and scott (TurboTTypeWE4) will definatly be at the track tuesday, we will look for you guys. If I had some sticky tires, I would run my car with yous.
The thing that sucks about emmissions, is I am about 2 blocks too close to the city. :D If you go two blocks down my street, you cross Delany Road, and you are in Manhattan. No emmissions there.

Scott-
Talk to my buddy Scott (TurboTTypeWE4). He is the one that set up the dyno days for the Chicagoland club. He can probably help you setup your DFI. They will do it at ATR motorsports in Joliet. He tunes cars there. They have a really nice dyno there.
