manufacturing, software development, engineering, accounting...more as the world becomes more educated

I think you've got China confused with India on Manufacturing.

I work in IT and have seen the affect outsourcing has had in that field but there are still tons of IT jobs in the U.S. So much so that we are still importing guest workers from India as there is a shortage of IT workers in this country. Maybe if more people went to college and got an education in this country, we wouldn't have to import workers. This goes for not only IT but other professions, like doctors & nurses.

There is a difference between having operations and actually manufacturing products there. Many of the companies you listed are financial companies that don't manufacture anything and are there to provide services to the Indian market. Others like Coca Cola and Colgate Palmolive manufacture products for India's domestic market, they don't export products to the U.S. Remember India's market is bigger for small items than the U.S. as they have 1.2 billion people.

Cummins and DuPont export to the US. For each company listed, I don't know what's actually exported to the US or other markets. There is a fair amount of manufacturing in India, and it's only increasing.

paying billions on zillions or close down, move and save millions a year...what would you do?

doesn't help to hurt the money makers...your paycheck will continue to decline until you're jobless...meanwhile the gov'ment keeps getting larger and less efficient

Your prolly right but these company's pocket all money while we suffer and the government does nothing about it. The ceo's take millions in bonus while we loose our homes? Come on now, who's side you on? Go after these guy's and take their money. Not ours.

The people who are making the millions are people who don't know what work is all about. They are white collar scum of the earth just gluttoning themselves. They don't do anything usefully for society or humanity. They just take money and walk away. We are left to clean up the mess.

There are many out there but that's not the majority...it's easy to see the excess and be disgusted and I agree with you in that respect. But for every 1 scumbag there are 100 CEOs who truly know what hard work is.

Or solve the larger problem: poorly run government programs and wasteful spending. If a CEO ran his/her company in the manner our local tax collector's office is run, he/she would be fired in a heartbeat. A lean government = more money in your pocket

Agreed.

Your net pay should increase this year - not decrease.

Take a closer look - it's probably your health insurance than went up - not taxes. That should not be the case.

IMHO income tax should be eliminated.
It is......:) at least state that is. Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, and New Hampshire and Tenn that only tax dividends and interest income.

I will be retiring to one of those staes in a few years. It only makes common sense.

That is where I would look as well. The SS witholding rate for employees was lowered to .0420 from .0620. Employeers still have to also contribute .0620 from your gross pay calculations. The healthcare legislation battle is raising all kinds of problems for insurers right now. Mine just went up to $677/mo as BC/BS is paying for less and less. Needless to say, I will now be shopping around for someone else.
