hi, i'm looking to redo my PCV setup and install a catch can. does anyone have pics of their setup that they can post? or a summary of materials i need to do this?

my pcv is sucking too much oil, the base of the vacuum block is oily and i want to get this cleaned up. any advice is appreciated.

Ditch the PCV system, plug the PCV valve and get breathers on the valve covers. Works great here, no more catch can to empty and the engine compartment is less cluttered.

What did you use to plug the manifold?

i have a breather on both valve covers. how do you ditch the pcv?

You need to read some posts about removing the PVC on a street car. You will get both side of the story...good and bad. You need to make an educated decision for your self.

I personally installed a catch can and have never looked back. I eleminated the oil in my TB/vacuum block and cut out my knock issues due to oil coating the pistons.

Which catch can did you get?

I forgot the company that I ordered it from but they make it for roadracing corvettes. It is black anodized. Its a trick piece.

i'm running the brass pcv/check valve, do i still need another check valve between the vacuum block and catch can? i assume that i would; otherwise i'll be pressurizing the can right?

can i just use a plastic check valve from a vacuum brake setup?

Install a catch can. There are many reasons why every car built in the last 40 years has a P.C.V. system.

Environmental/Emissions issues aside, can you highlight a couple of the good reasons for keeping the PCV? Not arguing, just interested.

Thanks.

P.S. - my car is 44 years old:smile:

The biggest reason I can think of is to evacuate blow-by gasses. Boosted cars have a lot more than N/A cars. Blow-by is filled with gasoline which contaminates the engine oil.

i made a similar set-up for my GTO. i've since bought a billet can for the goat but i made another Husky unit for my GN. just waiting on a check valve and it should be finished.
