Hey all, does anybody know the peak boost you should run with a TE44? Isn't it something like 24 pounds? Also, what do you think our combo would do
87 motor in an 85 hard top
TE44
3"THDP
3inch single shot exhaust
locked rear end with 3:90 gears (dont ask)
hotwired Fuel pump (Walbro 340?)
heated O2 sensor
50# flow matched injectors and Joe Lubrant 110 chip
Spearco front mount intercooler
Stock converter
And the motor itself is brand new but no mods

We ran a 13.7 at Temple, but there were traction problems, knock problems, and the car had just got the 50's and it wasnt tuned at all

Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
-Josh

Start at 19 psi and work up. Set the fuek pressure at a reasonable level (per lubrants recomendations) and don't "play with it" based on Knock. If you get real knock, add octane, don't increase FP. At this point, concentrate on Trap Mph instead of ET for tuning and stick to 1/8th mile with those gears (or get a set of 29" tall tires... definitely do not go smaller than 28")

Your car should fly at 20 psi when tuned and be scary at 25 psi, but don't try to get there all at once.

off topic -

How does your single shot sound?

I put mine on today and it sounds fine, no annoying drone. My friends 86 GN had a HORRIBLE drone to it, but mine doesn't, sounds just fine. Although I do still have a 2.5" tnetics downpipe I'm replacing with a TH.

If it's of any relavence to your question, the "sweet spot" on the TE44 is ~26-27psi or so. This is where it really comes alive, IMHO.

I think it sounds great, kinda reminds us of the 71 thats in tennessee waiting for paint.. no drones.. dont know how itll sound with the THDP because it isnt back from Billy Duke's shop yet.. The tires we run are 275/60's, does anybody know anybody that wants a locked rear or is willing to trade for a stock 342 posi?

Mines seem to like 25-26lbs, that's the what they call the sweet spot of the TE-44 turbo and thing after that no improvements, might want to think on getting a bit higher stall on the convetor
