I had a little mishap with my Camaro last fall and did a little bit of damage right in front of the driver's side rear wheel. Here are pics of the damage:

I went to a place that came highly recommended as being perfectionists and got an estimate.

The estimate came to $484.80, which I don't know is high or not.

Here is the breakdown:
Code:
Parts $0
Body Labor 6 hours @ $34/hour $204
Paint Labor 5.4 hours @ $34/hour $183.60
Paint Supplies 5.4 hours @ $18/hour $97.20
---------------------------------------------------
[b]TOTAL $484.80[/b]

I don't think I am being taken for a ride on this, but I want to get people's opinion on it who can verify for sure. Anyone have an accurate opinion?

I'D HAVE TO SEE THE DETAIL LINES (each repair line and paint line) TO BE SURE BUT, IT DOESN'T SEEM OUT OF LINE.

(Sorry about the cap lock)

the labor rate and material charge is phenomenally LOW -

Were $47.00 an hour
$28.00 on materials

The dent repair time is a little high but for a good job not too bad. Are they painting the entire quarter panel? For 5.4 hours, they must be. I'd try my best to have just the rocker painted and break the line somewhere down low at a stripe. Not only will it save money but not painting the entire quarter will save value on the car (people shy away from painted-on, late-model cars; it's true). If they are painting the rocker only, it sounds high. I can check a Mitchell manual sometime later today.

UPDATE: The rocker paint alone is 2.1, the quarter paint alone is 3.1; they must have added them together according to my guide. So if you can get away with the rocker only, you save $161.20. A sizeable chunk of change IMO. I also think the hourly rate is fair. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this an '01 Z28? That's what I based it on from my fading memory.

Labor rate is low, Materials/Supplies rate is less than cost around here. They should R&I the tailamp and pull the bumper away from the quarter also, maybe they're including that in the 6hrs. If they come highly recomended you should be OK, just talk to the Owner/Manger and tell them what you expect with the finished product.

The paint labor may include color sand & buff or mask the jambs ( like the refinishing guides recommend they be written at) . If you put the full estimate up it would be easier to tell but it looks about right.

As far as labor rates go -- they vary a great deal from state to state and even some within states.

Those michigan/Detroit pot holes (some man holes) are a pain in the pocket book. price looks normal to me.
