FYI - The 10 bolt pinion sleeves are a pain to crush and maintain the proper preload on the bearings. On my last differential rebuild I took Tom's (Tom's Differentials) advice and did not use the crush sleeve at all. Use a new pinion nut and red Locktite and tighten nut to the proper preload desired (in my case with new bearings, the pinion preload was 18 in lbs. and with the carrier 26 inch lbs.) and you are done!

That crush collar puts preload on the pinion bearings, you need it, OR, a solid collar that is shimmed like the rear pinion bearing to provide preload.
