Pipe size off of turbo

I have a 67 66 precision turbo the pipe that comes off my turbo to my inner cooler is 2 3/4 but my turbo and inner cooler calls for a 3 " pipe should I change and put the right size off my turbo and my inner cooler to match? If I do what r the results of it. Will it spool better or slower or what? Or should I leave what I have on there?

A smooth transition to the pipe is what matters. The inside diameter is what you're after. Not the o.d.
