What should minimum and maximum piston to wall clearence be on a .020 over motor with JE Pistons?

Also, any advantages/problems with running them tighter or looser?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Clarances are different for forged and cast or hyper pistons. Because they all expand at a different rate. But for forged it is betwen .004-.007.

My block was bored to the recommended clearance by JE. It sounds like a thrashing machine for the first 2-3 minutes of warmup, but after that, it's as quiet as could be. I might try a little em a little tighter next time around

Same here. Once she's warmed up, sounds like a well oiled machine! Little cold noise never hurt no one. I don't like to go when I'm cold either.

clearance

4.015 bore with moly coated skirts ( J & E )----.004 piston to wall clearance--quite as a stock eng. No noise on start up. After 2 season--no skirt skuffing.
