150 people ditched in the Hudson when plane struck a flock of geese.

Reported everyone survived the crash! On FOX business now!

7 cases of hypothermia and 1 broken leg. Wow! Anybody else believe in gaurdian angels now?

Hope the pilot gets pay raise. Surely deserves one.

He'll probably get an at-a-boy.... But if the plane took a dive in the river and he was to blame they would hang him by his balls.

Thank God that thing didn't crap out 30 seconds earlier or it would have been scrap metal up and down 5th Avenue and im sure terroism would have been the only thought on everyones mind.

I thought the Mayor sounded like a Jackazz on television.

USair announced that not to worry... all the passengers will be credited with their 3 frequent flyer miles.

I think the survivors of flight 815 were awarded the golden pass.... Atleast that's what Jack said.

I mean.. come on its 2009 and a couple of birds can take a plain down. WTF? They need some sort of off road light type rock cage in front of those big turbines. LOL!

Sounds funny about the birds but it is a real concern. That is one of the biggest arguments people had about eastern NC over the last few years when there were talking about building the gigantic Air Field right off the inner coast line. Opponents showed how this area is a bird sanctuary to MILLIONS of birds and that there was no way the Gov could get rid of all them and it be safe for the pilots... I have been in that area and water foul of all kinds are abundant. Flocks of them everywhere. I am glad the thing was defeated myself...

The engines on a 320 aren't very big and getting hit with soething that weighs 6 lbs going 200 mph will cause a lot of damage.

I'll post pictures of the 737 I was supposed to fly on last month that hit a canada goose on landing at BDL. You can see faintly see the shape of a bird in the nose cone.

Just finished reading the some articles on the incident. Pretty nuts, maybe the first airline accident in history that everyone survived. One account said a woman text messaged her husband as it was going down and could not get back in touch with him for a couple of hours after. Bet that was not a good time for the husband.

I bet the pilot went out for a drink after that one. A BIG DRINK!!

The pilot – should get a nice retirement party with a big check. This guy would get a holiday card from me for the rest of his/my life.

Any body on that plane that didn’t enjoy life should start enjoying life with the biggest party that they can get together and a nice vacation with their loved ones (I now I would).

At least they didn't hit a flock of seagulls.

Here are my pictures from a Canada Goose strike at Hartford, CT last month.

The plane was landing and flew through a flock of them. Needless to say my flight was cancelled. There were other impacts on the plane besides the nose per the pilot, but since it was landing, even if it would have taken out an engine he still could have made the field.

Squint and you can see the outline of a goose formed into the nosecone.

The obvious solution to this problem is a longer hunting season.

Wow! That bird could have gone through the window!

The pilot was still amped up right after it happened. He saw the flash of a flock of birds and then pieces flying past him. There was no way you can duck or do anything fast enough in that type of situation, so luck is pretty much all you got.
