Hey guys,

My 86 is going to need some new spark plug wires soon. I did some looking around, asked at O'Reilly and looked at G-body and Kirbans. I don't need to drop a ton of money, but i don't have a problem paying for a good set of performance wires.

So, just looking for some opinions on wires and what you guys are running on your street cars.

Thanks

I've ran MSD 8.5mm and Magnecor 10mm, both are good plug wires. The MSD's are considerably cheaper in price. Of the two, I prefer the Magnecor wires due to how far I've pushed the car with no spark issues.

I ran the MSD 8.5's and after about 6 times off, I had a wire go bad. I am sure it was at the plug boot where they are tuff to twist off the plug. And the bad thing was that it was the shortest wire and I could not repair it.

Not knocking MSD at all ! I just bit the bullet and picked up the Magnacore from Cottons performance to end it all. They are an absolute awesome set of wires to say the least. I can't say if there was or will be performance gains between the two, but I feel the boot is definately superior than MSD..

I switched to the Taylor Pro "409"s and have had great luck with them... 10.4mm and they seem to be pretty durable. Don't remember the price off hand.. I think $60-ish for a set....

My opinion.... the oem AC Delco wires on my car were fine when I replaced them for the heck of it at 100k miles. I replaced them with the same and they are fine now 10 years and 50k later. They are 8mm and fit perfect. Unless you like the 'bling', why would one spend extra money on something that delivers absolutely no performance advantage? There's alot better things to spend money on IMO. NOS4GN has 'em for a reasonable price and their customer service is second to none. Just sayin'...

The ones from RJC are from Russ Merit, right? I have those and couldn't be happier with look, fit, and performance.
