Who here has ported the turbo themselves? What were your techniques for doing the job? What were your results?
Since, I will be rebuilding my turbo, I decided to try porting the turbine side with a die grinder and some sanding rolls. How far into the turbine do people go. Since the cone passage is wrapped, I don't know how to get into the swirl nor do I wish to change the A/R ratio too much. Still, I think a slight cleanup job might help exhaust flow. How far into the passage do you go, and how do you do it? Or do you stay away from it, for fear of affecting performance?
I'd like to hear from some of you who have done this.
