I`ve read that porting the wastegate hole stops boost creep, but how much do you open up the hole ?I havent got my motor together yet ,but will be soon, should I wait to see if I need to port it,or do it now,and save the hassle of pulling it later to port it ? By the way,it has a precision exh housing on it . thanks,Jack

Although I might hear about this one I took the wifes lip stick, put it on the puck, bolted the exuast housing to my thdp to see exactly where it lands. then ported until there was only an eighth of an inch around. works great did four of these after freinds seen how good it worked. By the way they where all precision ex housings.

Size of hole now-----looks stock

The size is whatever stock is.Doesnt look like its been touched.

The size of the hole depends on the size of the turbo. A TE44 should use a 1.25" hole, the larger the turbo, the larger the hole. Hope This Helps.

waste gate hole size

Thanks guys, with all this info I`m heading in the right direction on this,Jack

The size of the hole should be matched to the size of the puck on the downpipe if you are using the integral wastegate system.

Does the BGC elbow/downpipe have a puck and swingarm in it?

If so measure the puck size and report back. :)

Measure the hole in the turbo while you are at it. ;)

wastegate hole and puck size

My BGC dp has no waste gate,It all in the turbo and exh elbow. The hole size is .930 ,the puck is 1.123 . Housing is a precision,AR .63----thanks,Jack

1" max. would be what I would go to.

1/8" is good for sealing, usually.

Besides for size of hole, Mark where the puck hits the wg hole it wont be center. thats what the lip stick or printers lay out dye is for. you know the blue stuff!!!

Mark where WG puck hits hole

I was going to do that from reading your thread,Very good idea, dont want any snaffus`,already had enough of those !!! Thanks guys, valuble information here---Jack

Jack,

If you have a PTE turbine housing, you shouldn't have to modify
the wastegate port, Precision did it for you.
