Bought it with 3,100 miles and has about 18k on it now. Hauls the kids, groceries, and a fair amount of @$$

Yeah there junk. Mine has multiple electrical issues , front diff and trans failure and its all stock down to the resonator . They also have a flawed oiling system. I have read a lot of post on tbssowners that people were spinning bearings with under 10k miles. The wife has a Lincoln MKX and it is a great ride. Its a 07 with 115k and I haven't put one cent in it other then brakes, tires and a battery. I'm a believer in Lincolns.

My daily driver is a 79 c10 with a granny 4 SPD and 4.11 gears. I recently installed a chrome bumper that isn't all jobbed up. I also have a 04 century but I don't drive that much during the summer unless I have to drive for more than 30 miles.

They do have flaws. The ignition switches are crap, but there was a TSB on that. Mine had it before I got it and it has been fine since. The oiling issue is the front sump oilpan. Hard launches on drag tires or with AWD TBSS's cause starvation issues. A lot of guys that had bearing failures most likely did not check their oil properly. I always kept mine 1/2 qt overfilled as suggested and never once logged oil pressure issues on launch. If you are a 1/2 qt low or more then you will kill your motor if you like to hammer it. The transmissions also failed a lot and it was solely due to heat issues. An external trans cooler and fluid changes every 30k solves that.

All that being said, my wife was much happier with the Ford Flex. Much better fuel economy, less quirks, quiet as a mouse, more comfortable, way more room, and could smoke the TBSS big time in a race. The only downsides were that it didn't handle corners or stop (thanks BAER) like the TBSS. Not even close. The only reason we sold the Flex is because we scored a good deal on a new Ecoboost F150. We sold the 100k mile Flex and 60k mile 2006 Titan for $3k shy of what we paid for the new truck. Just made sense to consolidate 2 higher mileage cars into 1 brand new one. Now I have a paid for new truck with warranty and my insurance went down a lot.

My daily is a 13 f250 gasser. This thing has been a beast. Sees more dirt and washboard gravel roads than pavement and just asks for abuse ha. Ditched a piece of crap duramax for it.
