power logger Question

I finally bought a powerlogger [used] but it didn't come with the software CD.

Is there a download that I can get to load on my laptop for windows 7 so I can use my powerlogger.

I will be buying another laptop dedicated to use with the PL but from what I've read windows 8 sucks unless you use touch screen amongst other issues that make it less desirable.

Maybe I should just get a used laptop with an older OS.

Thanks guys, one other question is that I will have to get a new/used laptop as the one I have now I bought for the wife and it's a 17" monster and I would prefer a 13/15" screen.

If I buy new will I be able to down load the program if I have windows 8 or should I just get a used one with 7 or older OS ???

I will primarily be using it just for the P/L and maybe some web surfing.

That sounds like a personal thing there. There is one warning about getting one with a monster screen. If you do, make sure you can lower the resolution to make powerlogger big enough to read. You can't maximize the program to go full screen.

Or is there an apple version for macbook owners???

I use a MacBook with VMware fusion running windows xp. Works like a champ. There are instructions on Eric's turbo tweak site for getting it up and running with windows 7 (how to load USB drivers) and I've seen some guys on this site using windows 8. Eric may have directions for that too.

I want to install the power logger tomorrow, will the car run as normal if I don't have the laptop software downloaded??

I'm assuming it will run like it does now I just can't log or look at the data right.

It'll run just fine. If you run the wire to the aux box and upgrade the scanmaster it'll always be updated with out without the laptop hooked up.

I have Windows 8 and runs fine.
The install procedure is the same as Windows 7.

I have Windows 8 and everything works fine for me. When you first install the PL program on 8 you will probably get a signature code that needs to be disabled during the first install. I found how to disable the signature online but don't remember where.
