i got a power plate from a board member (wakkoSS) and i am finally going to install it tomorrow... what i was wondering is when i go to install it do i have to take off the vacuum block? what about the throttle/TV cables? anything have to come off? or is there enough play to lift the upper plenum up and slip it in? i am cleaning the intercooler at the same time so that will be out of the way...

thanks

Most people just lift it up and slip it in. However, it may be worth your while to just remove those parts for cleaning.

And get longer bolts or change over to studs.

My suggestion is take things apart - don't try to slip the plate in - leave that to the shoemakers.

Don't overtighten any bolts, nuts, screws or studs or they'll strip - aluminum and plastic are unforgiving.

Clean, oil and start everything by hand.

Be especially careful removing the PCV/boost harness. Don't be afraid to use a little heat on it (bernzomatic). Hold the line with a glove to keep it from twisting. Reassemble with a dab of antiseize and don't overtighten the nut - it's only holding the harness down, and not the doghouse.

Don't overtighten the vacuum hickey or it'll crack. And use a new vacuum hickey gasket.

I installed a couple of PTE doghouses last year. They're 5/8" (?) taller than stock. It was fun running down the proper bolts, nuts, screws and studs to make up the difference, so that I got a proper install. Some trial in error. Made McMaster Carr happy.

Good luck!!!

:)

does anyone have a part number for that gasket? and is it avaible from any local parts store or is it a special item? i have a bucket of cleaning solovent, would that be ok to clean the upper plenum in or should i just use brake cleaner?

thanks for the help

I think the brake cleaner will be O.K. Just make sure you give it enough time to dry. (in the sun)

Let me know the results on the PP. I'll be getting one myself soon.
