My passenger side window will not go down from the passenger side switch. It works great from the drivers side. I have replaced the switch twice thinking the first new one might be bad. Any ideas? Thanks

Make sure the connectors are touching the terminals of the switch on the passenger side. You may have to tighten them up a little.

Assuming you have replaced the passenger side switch twice most likely your problem is the drivers side dual switch.

It needs to send a signal over when not in use to the passenger side switch.

It probably isn't doing that but works fine by itself.

Wiring info. should be available with testing info. in a search.

Try taking a small brass brush and with the terminal off lightly brush the brass part of the switch and the terminal and once cleaned apply some contact cleaner and lube to the terminal and switch.

Everything is making contact on the passender side.

All the terminals are clean.

The window goes up and down fine when using the drivers side switch, so I would think that the wires are sending signals over there.

I tried switching out with another known good switch today with no difference.

With a test light and the ignition on, all wires once plugged into the switch are hot. Is this correct? when the wires are not in the switch all but 2 of them are hot.

Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming please.

Another suggestion...check for broken wires between the drivers door and the passenger door jambs. If they are broken it will be inside the rubber boot.

Here's the story about what mine did. My passenger side window only worked with the passenger switch both up and down. The drivers switch could only make it go down. However, if I pushed the (new AutoZone) passenger side switch slightly up but not enough to make the window work....then he drivers switch worked both ways. I replaced the passenger switch with a new GM unit and it works fine now.

"The window goes up and down fine when using the drivers side switch, so I would think that the wires are sending signals over there."

There's no guarantee of that at all actually.

Previous post shows how the passenger side switch can affect the drivers side operation when not in use, same thing can happen with the drivers side switch affecting the passenger side.

Take two people and do the wiggle test on the drivers switch while trying the passenger side switch like the previous poster did.

Or look for these signals with KEY ON no switches moved in the passenger side area:

TAN and DARK BLUE/WHT stripe wires E and B switch positions should be at GROUND fed from the drivers switch over to the passenger side switch.

To get the window to go down +12 goes out the brown wire via the pink wire and the switch and ground is supplied via the dark blue wire from the dark/blue white stripe wire through the switch contacts.

You probably aren't getting the ground signals from the drivers switch to make it work on the passenger side.

Salvage,
Thanks for the info. I am a bit of a moron when it comes to the wiring. I am looking at the wiring diagram and for the switches. (they cam out of the plugs) and cannot seem to get them right. going by the diagram I have them right buut they are working right. Does anyone have a photo of both sides of the plugs that show the wires coming out of them?

Thanks

Matthew

Dwayne,
Thank you very much, that is just what I needed.

My window is working now!

Like Salvage had said it was a bad drivers switch, also I had them wired wrong from a long time ago.

Thank you all for your help.
