just recently my windows have gotten slower and struggling to go up and down mostly the drverside one sometimes i gently hit the inside panel to get it started (very ghetto) so my best guess is that the window motors are done... is it hard to replace the motors inside the doors? wat tips and advice can u guys give me before doing this? can it b anything else inside the doors besides that?

As Far as the motor being slow, There is an posting on here about speeding up the windows.

If your going to change the motor you might as well do what is on the posting. It is a pain to switch the motors. I've done it and now my windows are nice and fast. I also recommend for the window noise rattle a kit that Kirban sells.
WINDOW RATTLE ELIMINATION KIT #7170 it's only 32.95 it does help.
And while your in there TR Customs sells a kit Turbo Window Express Modules
Thats an option that will allow your window to come down b just touching and letting go the window control button instead of having to hold it down. Pretty cool. If you need some pictures of what to do about changing the window motor PM me and I'll send them to you.
Good Luck:D

hey salvage the 3 dimples u mention in ur picture are where the pop rivets sit right? those are the 3 rivets that have to b drilled out?

No those are where the head of the bolts are located that hold the motor in place...drill out the dimples and you will have access to the bolt heads...

ok thanx makes sense so wats the deal with the pop rivets ? do they need to b removed?

The pop rivets is an alternative way to get the motor in and out.

They don't need to be removed if you unbolt the motor after drilling the holes at the dimples.

Research both methods, the rivets are less intrusive, never tried it however, so I don't know the complexity or procedure exactly.

Then decide what you want to do.

If you go for the bolts make sure you lock the window in place, after removing them and getting your hand on the motor, with the clamp.

I followed the instructions that Salvagev6 posted by drilling 3 holes at the dimpled spots. The install was very easy. If I had known it was that simple I would have done them sooner.

You'll also have to remove the bracket from the old motor and put it on the new motor...trying to remember but pretty sure it's riveted to the old motor...drill out the rivets and install bracket on new motor...I riveted it back on the new one...better way to do it IMO but you can use bolts/nuts...just make sure to use lock washers...

Now that I think of it the new motor came with a bracket but it didn't have the holes for the 3 bolts or maybe they weren't tapped for bolts...again testing my memory here...that's why I decided to just use the old bracket...your choice...

You'll pick up even more window speed after doing the motors, if you lube the daylights out of everything in there. Mine looked like the factory missed half the lube spots...after 20+ years, it definitely needs to be done.

Easy while you have the door apart anyways...

much appreciated guys i think i can take on that task now with all the good info and pics u guys provided just waiting on the new ones to come ill keep updates on the success or any problems i encounter on the way thanx

I didn't buy a new motor so the bolts went right back into my self rebuilt stocker.

Not sure what comes with a new motor as far as bolting one up using the factory stuff or if you go the rivet method.

Yup, lube the tracks, and the lock mechanisms and actuators and pivot points etc.

Yes it has 3.

Just align the new motor up with the door and existing motor and you should find the approximate spot for the 3rd dimple.

Then look real close it's probably there, could be near a seam or other panel indentation.

done deal ! that wasnt painful at all wish i would have replaced them long time ago they r alot faster both left n right thanx for all info thanx for the pics and tips salvage followed ur steps i think thats best and easiest way to go for anyone that wants to do it
