I drove to and from Englishtown NJ swap meet yesterday. Car ran prefect all day. After getting home I moved the car out of the driveway, and found a huge puddle of brake fluid (I first thought it was oil-almost had a heart attack). Found brake fluid leaking out of master cylinder area, possibly at the base of the switch behind the master cylinder. How big of a problem is this? Is it an expensive fix? The switch had been replaced I believe. Car is an 87 Turbo T with 57000 miles. This was the longest trip for the car in several months. Brake light would come on for a second after starting the car and putting foot on brake to shift from park before this happened. Thanks for any help...

well, if its the switch there pretty easy to change buthere also expensive.not sure of exact price because i never bought one.got a price from a dealer a while ago and i couldnt beleive it. i switched over to vacuum and havent had problems since.

Sounds like it's your pressure switch. They like to go out and/or start leaking if a car sits around alot. You can get one for about $130 from GMpartsdirect. Pricey for a glorified Hobbs switch yes - but still a whole lot easier than changing over to vac setup. Be sure you depressurized before you remove the old one!!!

I purchased a used pressure switch from Jays Gn. www.jaysgn.com (not exactly sure on the address but I'm close) It was guaranteed to work or he would replace it. The cost $50 plus shipping and that was a little over a year ago. Much cheaper than buying new. Just a thought.
