Spent a lot of time searching posts on the brakes last night and can't say I'm pleased with the bad rep of the Powermaster system. A couple of guys mentioned keeping them maintained. Exactly what does that entail? Thanx.:confused:
 
I think maintenance means replacing it ...ha ha ha mine is takin' a dump on my right now,trying to figure out what to do.
 
Mine is going bad also. I had the current one for about two years and as far as I'm concerned it never worked properly. I switching to vacuum.
 
GNTURBO, that was what I was going to say. Maintenance=Replacement with a vacuum system. Changed mine when the GN only had 10k miles on it and haven't looked back. One less thing to worry about. I have a friend who has a low mileage GN like myself and he lost his brakes back when I first got my GN and that was all it took for me to convert.
 
if it goes out you will "lose" your brakes?will you still be able to stop at all?
 
There isn't a recommended procedure, but this is what I do: Change the brake fluid every year, especially on the pump side of the reservoir ( the engine side). If the fluid is so dirty that you can't see the bottom of the reservoir, you're long overdue for a change. Get a turkey baster and suck the fluid out and then wipe that griity, pastey stuff out. This is the stuff that gets into the check valve and clogs it. Refill the reservoir with fresh fluid. Drive the car a few weeks and do it again. This should get most of the fluid changed. Do the same on the outboard side and open the bleeders and let them drip until clear fluid comes out. Remember, this is *my* recommended maintenance and is what I do.
