Powermaster motor question

I hear my cars powermaster motor coming on every so often. I am new to this setup so I was wondering how often does the motor need to turn on? I hear it turn on from time to time, especially after i brake. Should it only turn on once? If it turns on too often, does that mean that its not holding pressure? Thank you in advance.

The motor should turn on every one to three brake applications.
