I'm confused about this humming noise coming from my powermaster. It makes this noise as soon as you start the engine. The car stops just fine however. The brake light stays on for 5-10 seconds after the car starts but then shuts off. Should I worry about this noise? I'm getting ready to take a long trip soon and I don't want the motor to burn out. I switched out the accumulator a few months ago so I know it's not that. Where should I start? I've heard I should get a master cylinder rebuild kit, or a new switch, or a new motor, or I should get a rebuilt powermaster. Any advice on what to check first please? Thanks

The noise is the motor pressurizing the accumulator. Its not uncommon for it to do that upon start up and for the light to be on for 5 to 10 seconds. As long as the light is not coming on everytime you press the brakes I wouldn't think there is problem. I have read the accumulator when pressurized is supposed to be good for 4 to 5 applications of the brake. If you decide there is a problem your best buy is a rebuilt unot from Autozone or O'Reillys.

Hasn't the price gone up on that system alot recently. Last I looked it was around 345 + core from Aoutzone?

Must have gone up. Guess they finally realized they were leaving money on the table. I purchased mine about a year ago.

Confirmed it, price has risen considerbly. Does have a lifetime warranty, at least did when I bought mine.
