I'm needing to talk to a experienced painter about ppg paint.. gun tip size for primer and paint..and so on I'm getting mixed reviews..if someone would PM me their phone number or responed here it would be great..thanks

tip size

thick primmers that fill up to 80 grit scratches require 1.8 tip, base coat paint 1.3 to 1.4 clear coats 1.4

Primer should never fill 80 grit!!!! 150 is even too heavy for urethane primer. All filler should be finished with 220. 1.4 to 1.5 is all that is needed for urethane primer. A larger tip will put the material on too heavy. Heavy material will shrink more later because of the trapped solvents. As far as sealer/base/clear, 1.3 to 1.4.

There are polyester primers that will fill more than the urethane that can require a larger tip. I use a 1.4 tip with Shop Line 205 (PPG) polyester primer, but have used thicker polyester primers that required a larger tip.

Remember, just because it looks good the day after, it might not look so good a week, month, year, 5 years later. Abusing products wont hold up to time. PPG is a multi billion $ company. They tell you how to use their products, yet some people always try to reinvent the wheel. I did a frame off to my car over 5 years ago, and it looks as good as the day I finished it.
