Ok here is what i know so far. The races will continue with different people running the events, Paul being one of them. The next race is Oct. 5 or 6 (can't remember the exact date). The payouts will not be as high but i am sure there gonna be in cash. The problem is that the Hi-tech class is up in the air. I have heard that there will be no hi-tech unless the racers push for the class to be run. I know many buick guys enjoyed having a race to race in, instead of waiting only for the shootouts. If you want the class to keep going then talk to Paul and let him know you would like to see the class be run. Personally I like watching the class especially when the buicks drop a few mustangs....hehe. It was also cool to see TURBO D runnin some consistant 10sec ets.

BTW, when is the 8-9sec buick gonna run??? I can't wait!!!

How did you find out about this? They still owe us money from the last race . If they are going to continue the seriers they will have to pay up what they owe.

I don't think anyone is gonna get paid for the last race. None of my friends have been paid yet so i think all the money winners from the last race gotta realize that they ain't gettin there money, which sucks. These are different people running the race and the payout will be cash. Hopefully this time around the racers will stay happy and the race can grow like it was doing before.

The person that partner up with the Import race seriers is one of the president of Global amusement INC. Global is the one that was writting the checks for the import races. But it they are going to continue the seriers they will have to pay what they owed.

Rob........Its was the past Import race in June or July. Dean got 2nd and I got 4th place.

Report them to KIT4 news. It sucks when there's something to be owed. A friend of mines at KITV4 suggested that to me. So far, most of their investigations about businesses not following through has seen happy endings for the smaller guys!

Jackson,
Thats what I thought, and if you were not the only one who experienced this, then I would consider it theft and you may get the police as well as the state attorney generals office involved. Knowingly writing bad checks is against the law, even on the Federal level, I would get a list of all of you who were paid with rubber and hopefully still have all the info (returned checks, etc) and forward it as a group to the AG...HTH.
Rob

I talked to my friend that is a Police officer and will do some research for me. I'm gathering more info and support to continue this.

Red240, do you know who the sponsors are going to be? If its going to be the same companys as the oringal Pro Import series, I think they should pay us or change the name of the race. I don't expect Paul G. to pay what is owed from the last race, but the sponsors have a responsibility to make good with the racers. I don't understand why we should have to push for the High Tech class, looked to me like there were quite a few racers willing to run.

Sorry but i don't know of any sponsors right now. I am passing along the info as i get it, you might wanna check with the ford guys to see if they know anything about the race.

As far as the class goes i know there were a lot of cars trying to make it into the field. But when the class was allowed to run in pro import Paul didn't like it because he felt that it would take away from the Fastest Street Car Shootout. So now that he is apart of the race he wants to shut it down. I told him that a lot of cars were running so he knows that. As far as a final decision on the class racing or not the last i heard is that the class will race in the Oct 5 race but if there isn't enough cars then the class would be shut down. My advice to you would be talk to him personally so you have an understanding of whats going on. (Hi-Tech is still on for IDRC i was only refering to pro import.)

here is a copy of ernie lum's (president of HFPC) email to all in our club...

Hi all,

Visited Paul G. and spoke with him about the Pro Import Race for the rest of the year. The Pro Import races for October and December will be held. There will be the High Tech headsup class and High Tech type cars will be allowed to run in the Bracket. Check the forum on our website for more details. Happy racing.

Aloha, Ernie.

if you want to visit our website...its www.hfpc.net

just my opinion
i know we all like to get paid if we run in a shootout...and though sometimes things like the previous race do happen....there is a lot of hard work and parts spent to make our cars run as fast as they can...but is there really a profit in racing? sure that couple hundred dollars of winning could buy you another performance part....but i really know its the racing that you thrive...i hope this doesnt effect you in coming out for the next races for the import series....if theres not a showing for the class as you know paul will cancel our class...then we can all go back to racing friday and saturday nites for fun :D ....and i know we all wanna see a certain buick take down them fords :D

a little more info from erine:

Visited Paul G. to talk with him about the Pro Import races for the balance of the year. He says that they are going to happen. Some of the event sponsors weren't kean on continuing the High Tech class, but Paul has decided to include High Tech for the rest of the year. So, there will be the High Tech headsup class and High Tech type cars will be allowed to run in the bracket.

Sponsors, some quick import racers and Paul have agreed that the purses for the quick 8 classes need to be cut back. The payouts will be: winner=$500, runnerup=$250, 3rd and 4th=$125. Runcard will cost $40.

Paul wants to try to put more money into the purses if the gate receipts are high enough. I think that's good, but should not be counted on. If it happens, it's like a bonus.

Feel free to post any questions that you may have. If I can't answer it, I'll talk with Paul. Let's get racing, dudes. om our boards by ernie:

Thanks Danny for sliding the Pro Import post over to this board. I tried to post one on this side last night, but couldn't get it to work.

Hey Buick dudes. So now you know where Paul G. is coming from with the Pro Import race and High Tech. He knows that "we" want to run it and he doesn't want to alienate us. Paul, with the new group that is continuing the Pro Import races, has no intention of making good the bad checks of the former promoter. I think it's unreasonable to hold the new group responsible. They are just trying to keep alive a race platform that we, the racers, have been having a blast with.

A lot of racers ended up with rubber in their hands and that's the real ****s. But nobody's lost can come close to what Paul is eating. And Paul is encouraging everyone with a bad check from Global to legally pursue the issue. I don't know what can be gained from that, but it could teach someone or some people a lesson. I don't think that the sponsors can be held liable to the racers. I think the buck stops with Global. But what do I know. I'm just a janitor.

Anyway, I hope that the mighty Buicks will continue to play a big part in supporting and developing the great racing on Oahu. The next Pro Import is October 5. The IDRC is before that on August 31. See you guys at the IDRC.

Aloha, Ernie.

on a lighter note

Hey, Danny!!!! What's with this "and I know we all wanna see a certain buick take down them fords". WE all know that a Buick CANNOT take down any Ford. LOL. I shouldn't be talking like this when my car is not even running. I'm going crazy. Where's my motor???? Ya all have a great day.

Thanks Ford guys!

Thanks for the useful info and well said, but it true Paul do pay cash out for his races. But the word is not spread out enough, there are rumors about the Import seriers is going to continue, but not many know that are going to be new sponsers, many will not attend and some will but since that bounce/rubber checks issues. I'm in the process is doing a fraud/theft case on Jason Skaggs the previous promoter od the Import seriers.

Well, I paid $50 to race last time in the pro import race. My car broke on the first run (long drawn out story, but all fixed now). But it will take me seeing a race go down with good pay-out results before I pay another $50 to race vice the usual $6, plus extra admission fees for the wife and kids. Yep. it cost me alomst $80 (plus tow) to run my car for about 2 seconds before the damn converter fins snapped on me. :(

Derrick

Yes, it is traditional with Paul to pay in cash. So you can expect the same with the upcoming Pro Import race. The one thing that Paul emphasized is that the Quick 8 classes must be full in order for the class to receive the full payout. I don't think that's unreasonable. Regardless of what we think of Paul at times, he has been doing this for a long time and has been able to survive. No one can be paying out more than they take in over and over and survive in any business.

Hey Derrick. I understand your frustrations over what that night costed you. I've had my car towed from the track 3 times. But you've put a lot of sweat and money into your car, so that tells me that you enjoy racing. I hope that you'll have to funds to run in the IDRC and upcoming Pro Import. We all are faced with the same issues, so hang in there. And I did point out to Paul that it's not just the High Tech racers that contribute to the event. It's also the families, crews and friends that come out to support specificly the High Tech'ers that add to the gate receipts.

Jackson, I spoke to Andy about the bad check problem that you and Dean have. Let me know if you need his help getting your guys money.
