Pro-tree?

I ran on a pro tree to try it out. I broke the 1st beam, came up to launch boost, then bumped in to break the stage beam(footbraking). As soon as I saw a flicker of yellow from the lights, I let her loose. I had RTs down in the .030 range with some practice, but they weren't good enough as I got treed by someone who cut a .009 1st round. Different, but not all that hard to get used to.

After you stage, Focus your eyes on the first Amber light on the tree only. As soon as you see this light just start to come on, Go!

It will be hard to be competitive with a pro light if the car doesn't break the beam fast enough. You could be great on the light, but it still takes some time for the car to react and move also. I think I once figured out that the car would need to be capable of a 1.4 or so 60 foot time to be quick enough to break the beam in time, after you've reacted.
