I did a search and saw there might have been a program being written to run Direct Scan on Windows 2000 or better. Was this done?

My older laptop finnally died. I now need to use my main lap top with Win 2000. I know I could make a dual boot system to run Win 9X, but I do not want to format my lap top b/c it is used as my main computer. When I make a boot disk, It does not read the hard drive. BTW...my system is formatted in the NTFS format, is this why a Win 95 boot disk will not recognize the hd??

Thanks
Kevin

Yes, that is why you cant see the HD with a win95 boot disk(win95 uses FAT)..If you can get your hands on Partition Magic, you can do a non-destructive dual boot setup. It resizes your HD partition and leaves existing files intake. I used it on my win2k lappy to setup win98 for directscan(took the 10 gig drive and resized the NTFS partition to 6gigs and left me 4 to format in FAT32 for win98se). It also comes with a program called BootMagic that gives you a boot choice when you start up..Works perfect!

DS works fine on my win2k desktop..... NTFS file system..... just run it from the command prompt....make a shortcut and put it on your desktop to start DS...... works fine.

WinXP is a different story..... there is no reminants of DOS..... at least not enough to run DS. I still think you could run DS off of a boot floppy.... I'll have to try and make a boot floppy with DS on it and try it on my XP Desktop.
