When I purchased my Limited it had an alky kit installed and a box with a quart of Klotz lubricating oil and a gallon can of alcohol from Ace Hardware in the trunk. Now that I have the alky pump working again, how much of the Klotz lube oil should I add to the one gallon of denatured alcohol for the proper lube:alky ratio? 1/4 quart or less?

Thanks for any and all replies!

first off lube is not for shurflow pump alky kits (newer SMCprogressive or alkycontrol kits) so if you are sure its not then you need lube

i beleive you only need about three or four caps full per gallon ( the cap on the klotz qt bottle)

Pacecarta,

Thanks for the input...I believe this kit is an older SMC model as the bottle is of the "rectangular milk bottle" shape that mounts to the radiator shroud and has an internal pump. Again, thanks for the tip.

I agree 3-4 capfuls is all you need for a gallon.

I usually just put a capful or two in the bottle then fill it with alky. and then stir it up a bit with a wooden stick from an old flag, perfect size stirrer.

Cool.

I was just searching for Alcohol Lube and it looks like I don't need to mess with it.

But the OP is about denatured (Ace Hardware alcohol)
So is pure methanol in a new ALKY CONTROL kit is fine with no lube?

No lube with our pumps.

If you can, buy the methanol without any lube added.

I dig your sleeper - that thing must blow some minds if you can get any traction with the whitewalls!
