Any comments on these things? I picked one up real cheep, and it's a late build (2004) PTA-51 model. How do they spool? How do they pull up top? Any general comments? I know the older ones had turbine failure issues, but Precision promised me they had them sorted out. Cheers.

P.S..... Thanks anyway Red, but I already know what you think of these things. ;)

I had a pt54 and the exhaust wheel blew off, I ran a lot of boost. apparently these things blow exhaust wheels and dont like alot of boost.

Pt 51

I love that turbo. I helped build a freinds car with over 100k on the motor that was never opened up. That car mph at 116 at 25 lbs of boost with the tire off the ground about ten inches on take off. That was a 15 lb launch and then on the second pass he broke a axle.

Anybody have reliability issues with the newer build pt-51's.........have they "fixed" the problem? .......they told me it was a "clearance" issue, and it had definitely been solved.

I've got an older one, PTE51 with about 35k miles on it.

I only run about 25 psi. or so boost through it in my GN, was in my WE4 for 3 years first.

It's seen 27psi. on a couple of occasions, I have a boost logging device with leds on the dash that records peak boost.

114mph with pump gas and SMC alky. kit.

No melted wheels..... yet.

I used it with both the D5 and the 3000 stall 0 pump vigilante converter, obviously it's more fun with the converter in there. But it wasn't objectionable with the D5 and some quick spooling tricks in the chip and the BSTC boost controller.

Good luck with it, don't count on the "warranty". ;)

Mine was from modern musclecar not PTE direct.
