Hello Guys

I planning to purchase a PT-TE44 or LT 44 but I'm looking at their power ratings and it shows PT-TE44 can go low 11's and possible hight 10's with this turbo and rating HP at 580 compare to LT-TE44 of 475. My question is are these the same turbo or is PT has more horsepower than LT.

What I want to do is buy a set of champions iron ported heads, port match intake and a PT front mount intercooler and Max Effort chip. Hopefully with good hook up I will get into low 11's or possible high 10's with right tunning.

Thanks for your input

in your sig it states you have a TE-61 on the car right now..... that should be good for high 11's in a good state of tune with race gas/high timing/high boost and slicks.

You should get every ounce out of your current combo before dropping money you don't have to IMO.

You may have looked at the TE-34 or the specs were incorrect..... as those little guys would max out at around 480 as you mentioned. A stock turbo maxes out at around 375-400hp.

A PTE-52 has much larger wheels than a TE-44 and they are the same price I believe. Both will work with a D5 convertor that has been restalled to 2800rpm (costs about $150-200 from any reputable convertor shop for rebuilt/restall one).

Turbo

Hi gnx 7

Thanks for your reply.

I should of mention that the TE-61 is not on my car, I sold that. I was looking at this link and LT TE-44 show 475 HP and PT TE-44 shows 580 . I was wondering are they different turbo or same.

Precisions web site says that PT TE-44 has been in the high 10's. I have Red Line 2800 torque convertor and should be good combo and what I'm looking for.

This is the link I was looking at

The 580 is a typo that has been there for at least 7 years. For the true HP of a TE44, look up what the vendor lists for a TA49 and add 5, 10 MAX.
