cheeseburger, how do you like the 76, and how quick can it spool? many thanks, mine seems alittle slow??

Ryan Guy had one in OR. Full weight GN and fully ported iron heads, FMIC, Comp Cam flat tappet 218 cam (maybe a 224/224). 30psi+ and it went 9.99@136mph.

TH200-4R with no billet parts. AC NLU 9" I believe.

I bet spool up wasn't all that stellar.

You probably have an .85 exhaust housing.........i went to a smaller one and had to change torque converters for the turbo to spool.
I have had it spool with zero lag (instant), but am currently sorting out my dfi program.

Once i sort it out and its running max, i may go back to the larger a/r for some extra hp.........we'll see.

Overall i like the turbo, but you will have to mod/change things to make it work on a 231 ci motor.

It is a John Craig LT 76 GTQ.

Cheeseburger, you have some 9 sec times if you crank up the boost and hook that car.

What tire size are you running and what cam??

If we're talking about last year's Turbo Thunder setup he was running an 88 and nitrous...went 9.96 @ 136...

He may have run a 76 before that tho...

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got back from the track and got the dfi sorted out last night...........ran very well no bogging..........and still need to get used to shifting with the transbrake!

First pass off the trailer,

1.727 60 foot
6.966 8th
105.30 mph 8th
10.61@133.06

Next pass:

1.67 60 foot
6.920 8th
104 mph 8th
10.57@134.27

I screwed up on the shifting again..........shifted to 2nd pulled the tires then back into 1..........shifted back to 2 and pulled the left front 3 feet.

Can't wait for a better shifter!

2 other 10 sec passes.........i turned it up a bit and at the eighth heard a flutter.........went through at 10.71@129.77.....1.707 60 foot.

Detuned the car and the next pass the track went for a s..t(skating rink)

1.53 60 foot
6.969 8th
10.85@125.39

I think i have the transbrake shifting sorted out after the last pass, going to turn it back up next time out.

Running a 28x10.5 M/T slick and a hyd roller 224.
Mike.

What turbine housing are you running. I plan on getting the 3 bolt Precision .85 housing with the PT 76 GTQ. The reason for this turbo is that I do not want to buy anymore different turbos. I will be building a S2 motor in the future and I don't want to buy another turbo. This 76 will be use on a nice built 109 motor with billet caps, Diamond pistons, Champion heads and a big cam for now. :D What boost level did you run your times. Thanks!

I used a .63a/r on these passes@ 29psi (i assume the level did not change from the last outing.......never looked at the boost gauge).
I thought the exact same thing because i will also be building a stage II.

Mike.

The noise i heard was the #3 main bearing going because of a cracked saddle........pulled the motor the following day........head gaskets were fine and ALL other bearings were mint!

I have taken the 109 block to its structural limits.
Currently looking for a std 109 block in mint condition to put my internals in.:)

Even better than the 76GTQs they re talking about here?

To go 8's i'd bet money he's running something like an 88mm compressor wheel necked down to 76mm at the inlet with a thumper exhaust housing.
