My PT-51 is dead - but it’s not PTE’s fault.
I sent it back to them to have the housing replaced (misaligned puck). They called today and declared it DOA. At first I was pissed, but then I remembered all the metal in my oil pan and caught in my pickup screen. Evidently, the metal made its way through the turbo, too. Grrrrr. So, I guess it’s good to find out now rather than have the turbo fail later on after I put the new engine in.
So PTE is going to rebuild it. They suggested that in order to avoid such unfunness, in the future, I should buy one of their oil filter relocation kits. It provides a separate, filtered feed to the turbo. Anyone try it? Is it a good idea?
Thanks,
Jim
