Hi all,

Is there any way to look at the outside of a turbo (TA-53) and tell if it has one of the trick PTE housings on it? I forget what the number reference to it is .83? .65? something? I need to tell if mine has one on it.

Also, how do you tell the difference between a standard and HD actuator by looking at it?

Many Thanks - Terry

PTE housing? If it is a PTE turbo it most definately should have a PTE housing on the turbine side. You can see differences here: www.gnttype.org in the photo guides to the right.

Here's a link to a comparison of a garret turbine housing and the Precision housing. You'll also notice it says Precision, while the other says Garrett.

Notice the dead give away SIZE

As for actuators, there should be a tag with the part number on it. That's the only way I know of to tell them apart. There as so many different springs even for the HD actuators, that you need to know all the part numbers to tell.
