I'm looking into buying a converter for my next mod, and I'm trying to get all the info I can. I know I'm going to go with a 3200 stall, but unsure who's to buy. I've looked into Yank, Precision and Bruce's. How does Bruce's stack up to the Precision unit? No bashing anyone's converter, just would like to get the pure facts. Whats the torque multiplier of the 9/11, I've seen on webpages that the Vigilante was a 1.8 or a 2.2 anyone verify this?

Thx, :)

i'd stick with Bruce ...He's the best in the business and which other one can you drop a question on at 1:00 in the morning ??

my 9-11 has worked flawlessly and i am hard on the lockup with full throttle lockups at low rpm where its making some major torqe and so far not a glitch

To quote DIRECTLY from the PTS website....Hehehe

Question: Anyone know what the TM ratio is for the PTS Xtreme converter? (formally 9/11)

Answer: 9X11's have a multiplication ratio of 2:1.. You do not get any better than that. If you are told that something is better than that then you are being bamboozled. They are just awesome.....

Bruce,

Are you sure about that? Yank claims up 3.0. The reason I ask is you have recomended them in the past.

Yes, I am sure and if you noticed, I have pulled them from my website. I am not real happy with the things I have been hearing and when I approached Yank, they would not deny. So, I pulled them.

Same here. You told me that for high Hp applications that Yank was the way to go???? So whats the "real" reason you don't promote Yank anymore? I've got a YANK lockup, and have recieved nothing but wonderful service and products from them. Restalls are turned around with in 2 days, and never heard Mike say one negative thing about the competition in the numerous conversations I've had with him. Alot can be said for making and standing behind your own products and selling them on there own meritts. If anyone wants to take shots at lackluster converter mfgs., lets all paint a big red bullseye on Art Carr Texas/Reno:rolleyes:

Just finished my install of the PTS 9/11 about an hour ago. Had a Vigilante "0" pump and a PT51 previously and changed to a PTS 3200 9/11 and PT54.
First off, Bruce hit it on the nose! 3200 rpm at about 10 pounds of boost. Drives nice, just a little more rpm's than a stocker driving around, spools quick, locks solid.
Honestly, I can't really tell a difference between the two, if I told you there was a Vigilante in there you would'nt think twice. But for over $100 less I have an truly custom built converter with an 11 inch clutch and Bruces excellent customer service, he truly goes above and beyond.
And when was the last time you saw a Precision or Yank rep on this board?

Now, lets be careful here

All I was saying was I have had "several" phone calls asking me to look into things or issues with Mike simply because I endorsed them. On all occassions, I could trace it all back to Yank and unhappy people. Now , I am NOT slamming or denouncing anybody. All I said was I pulled the link off my site due to lack of communication and no desire to deny said problems. I am NOT downtalking their product and not disputing their claims.
However if I cannot get them to discuss certain issues with me, how can I endorse someone who will not even call me back?
As for the "real" reason, I already disclosed more than I probobly should have in this thread. I am not happy even with the way I have been treated. Why would I hide anything? I thought that question to be very forward. Anyway, thats the "story" the "whole story" and "nothing but the facts story". LOL :D

problems like my buddy's LS1 blowing his yank up for the 3rd time in a year. no need to worry about a 4th time though he totaled the car..:(

Bruce,
I sent you an e-mail about your convertor and what you would suggest. I would like to know asap so I can get one ordered from you. My car with the new TE44 is lagging really bad.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave?

I have not recieved anything that I can see. I came into work today to do paperwork as it is 104 degrees here today and I might as well be here in the air conditioning, as anywhere. I have searched all the databases and nothing that I can see from you. I do apologize. Please contact me when you can. Best way is to fill out tech sheet in converter section of website and submit. I will contact you.
Sorry bout the hurdle and I am still dumbfounded as to why.

Bruce,
I got another e-mail out to you. I think I sent the first one through your feedback:eek: Hopefully you get this one. Sorry for the confusion.

I have had the opportunity to drive a few different cars with 9.5" Vig's and compare them my car with Bruce's 9/11. Now I know my azz is not a very good dyno however they both spooled about the same, drove about the same, and stalled the same. I went with the cheaper route, Bruce's 9/11, and I have been racing it along with his trans for over 4 years now. I'm no 10 second racer, my wife won't let me, but most of my runs are in the 11's with pretty decent mph. Trans and convertor are still working fine.

IMO I would give the nod to Bruces' 9x11. Reason is there is a considerable weight difference between 9x11 and the vigalante. Especially if you go with the five clutch lock up. I have installed a 5 clutch Vigalante and could not believe the weight difference between it and the stock unit. I have kicked myself repeatedly for not getting a 9x11, especially since it is less money. If I remember right 10-12 lbs. is the difference between vigalante and 9x11. 10-12 lbs. on the end of the crankshaft will certainly make a difference in the engines abilities to rev. Also no pump tube to install with Bruces' setup. On top of everthing else Bruce has about the best customer service and is a top supporter of the Turbo Buick community. With past conversations that I have had with him I can barely get off the phone with him.
