In this kit is a new pump slide spring. Compared to the stock it is about 1/4-3/8 longer. What is the purpose of this new spring and what is it suppose to do? Thanks

paul

Anyone got an answer on this or do I have to wait until Bruce see's this which may take awhile. Thanks

paul

That is likely just a TransGo Hi-Rev pump kit, costs about $10. The pump slide spring is heavier to prevent hi-rpm cavitation from causing pump failure.

Yes use it...

jakeshoe, just for your info, I bought it from PTS Extreme and it was $24.00. The kit came with a spring and two pump rings (chrome moly).

P.S. can you shed any light on my question regarding teflon rings in another post? You sound knowlegable.

Yep,
Sounds like you got a TransGo Hi-Rev pump kit without box or instructions for twice the price.

I oughta start buying TransGo stuff and selling it under my trademark for a nice profit too.
How about a Jake's Egg-stream Valve body kit for $150.
Same thing as a TransGo but with some cobbled up instructions you can barely read.
At least mine would include the TV boost valves..

You can use a piece of metal from a pop can and use clamps to re-size the teflon rings. You should be able to cut the strip of metal to wrap all the way around and overlap. It should leave little or no bumps.

Putting the rings in hot water before installing helps make it easier.

Paul, I left a message on another post for you to give me a call and I will put you with Bruce. Also, the pump kit, although appearing to be the similar as a Trango kit, isn't. The spring itself is a unit that we have built for us by a local spring steel maufacturer here in Sac.

Springs

2quik, are the PTS kits a double spring? I know the Transgo kit uses a single. I always thought that was odd, replacing a double with a single for high performance.

The stronger spring is to prevent the slide from centering at high rpms due to the centrifugal force of the vanes. This prevents pump output from dropping. I think?
