Hi All,

Well, I was able to get great help in this section with my previous tranny probs, so here goes again!

I developed a leak in my trans after installing the Trans Pak last fall. So, I replaced the gasket. THEN, it did it again. So, I used the Right Stuff sealer... problem solved, right? WRONG! Over the winter, same thing. So, last week, I did the Right Stuff thing again, and guess what? Yesterday there was a PUDDLE!

Then it hit me... this only occurs when the car sits for a minimum of a few days. So, I got under there and this time, I could see exactly where it was coming from since everything was just cleaned last week. It is coming from the hole where the TV cable goes in and bolts down! Is this supposed to be a tight seal?

My theory is that after sitting for a few days, the converter and rest of the trans let the fluid return (or try) to the pan and then when it gets to a certain level, it overflows out this hole! Sound reasonable? Did I possibly clog a return hole when I put the TransPak in? For whatever reason, I have always had a hard time reading the dipstick level in this car, so maybe I am just over filling?

HELP! Thanks a bunch!

Trans leak

Jay,
I had the same leak on my car after a converter change. Just replace the seal and you are good to go. My car would leak after sitting about a week. It's definitely a two person job to hook the cable back up. One has to hook the cable under the car while someone else pulls on the cable under the hood. Hope this helps!!!

Good Luck, Rob

Jay, your theory is 100% correct. Now all you got to do is drain and replace tv boot. No big deal, just a pain in the ass.

Thanks, Guys! I wonder if the boot is still in there now that I think about how that thing was sitting when I looked at it?! Jay

what cable? the one that is on the out side? to the left? Jsut wondering.:)

It is the cable from the linkage on the throttle body. It goes into the trans on the passenger side above the pan area and has a large (kinda) black plastic mounting point with a tab for a bolt to hold it down into the tranny.

Hope that helps and thanks again, guys!

This is the same leak I had on mine last summer. It took me a while to realize where it was coming from. I replaced trans lines and pan gasket twice before I could clearly see that it was the TV cable grommet. It still leaked with the new grommet in so I put a little gasket sealant on the outside and its been fine since. The one they gave me was a little different than the old one and I guess it could have been the wrong one  If I remember correctly the original had some steel reinforcement in it while the new one did not.
