Hello All
Well heres my problem I recently purchase a 1984 GN T-Tops with 130k on it
The car had been parked in a garage for the last 5 years.
So The first thing I did was the spring cleaning GNT-Type.org checked fuel pressure found bad so here heres the list of everthing I have replaced and done so far : valve springs, valve seals, fuel pump (340 & hotwire), injectors(40lbs Disc type), AFPR, Bigmouth Cold Air, right upper control arm bushings,
Plugs(cr43ts), wires, Converted to 86-87 Ignition & Coil, New radiator, O2 Sensor, Idle control valve(and yes I reset all according to specs). 160 Thermo,
And of course all the gauges Boost, Oil, Water, Knock.
And heres the problems
1 Damn Lifter Knock  (Just ordered a new set)
2 Starts fine after a couple of minutes starts to die and them picks up to
about 1000 rpm and back down again to start all over again this can happen at any time even after driving for 50 miles
and at any temp so sorta like its running out of fuel but pressure stays constant Tapped on MAF no change. Tap The gas and runs fine.
3 Even after new radiator runs over 200 in town takes a while on highway to cool down suspect bad clutch fan (How do you test these things?)
4 Trans converter staying locked up replaced soloniod today a problem seems better but trans is shifting way to fast and feels like coverter is kicking in and out at around 45-50 mph
I got a 87 ECM with Maf and Fan with relays coming next week. Already got the ATS from Caspers so just waiting for the rest for ECM swap.
and I will start all over again.
The car goes to the body shop in 2 weeks so I am trying to get all the mechanicals straight before it goes to paint (Dont want to be hanging over the newley painted front end :D
And the the thing still looks Great from afar sorta like a 20 dollar you know what ;)
And whats up with the valve cover breathers there are no baffles in the valve cover and none in the breather no wonder the valve cover breathers are always soaked with oil

Your radiator may need a cleaning or replacement. as for the other stuff, get a scanmaster so you can read trouble codes and use it in tuning the car up as well.

Radiator

Its a brand new radiator just put it in last night. And as far as codes the are none just 12 waiting on my scanner to come home loaned to a buddy and haven't seen it yet
