Possible? I put in a new tranny and converter in my car and something strange is going on. Reving the car in park is blowing the knock sensor off the chart. Yet in neutral it's clean. A bud said he thought that the pump doesn't turn in neutral, is that right? Could a noisy pump be doing it? Which is why in neutral it's clean? Or does anything else make sense?
Thanks

The pump is constantly moving. If the pump is "slapping" I still dont think it would cause knock. Are you sure the bolts in the TC are tight? Also make sure the bolts in the flywheel are tight.

This is not the same but I had a pump that would buzz in reverse and low 2,1 as well as make a funny buzz/rattle at the top of a gear at part throttle. It set off my knock gauge every time.

I did check the clearance between the converter and the flyweel and it was right between 3/16" - 1/8" which was what the specs called for. Then I re-torqued the bolts again so I know they're right. Like I said, the only difference is park vs neutral, with kr showing in park? There has to be something going on inside that tranny.

We've experienced some rebuilt pumps which produced a knocking noise. The cause was an off center condition of the drive gear in relation to the crest.
All pumps work anytime the engine is running, with the exception of a rear pump.

Hmmm. I just don't get it. Is there something else in there that moves in park and not neutral? What can be happening in there? I've never had a tranny apart before - except for the pan, so I've got nothing. I've sent a message to the vendor - but haven't heard back from him yet.
