Well, I told the guy I liked his car but because it wasn't running I would pass if this "guy from alabama" doesn't buy it let me know. Well, he said with the price there is a lot of leeway.....soooo, I'm going to upload the pics that he had sent me. 97K, owned for 16 years, has been repainted but not a perfect one 7/10 he says, has always been in a heated garage until a few months ago now its in his pole barn. Any ideas???

Is that with the price of the car i'm following your thread just in case i win the lottery and want to restore mine and i better start playing cause i have some rust issues to deal with

its going to need an upper and lower radiator hose installed , some coolant , a couple of hose clamps on the ic hose and up pipe , a couple of plug wires for #2 + #4 and a battery before you can attempt to start

im not looking for a car right now but if i were the Astro 87 Gn would be up there on the list of one id like to have

I got about 9k into my car, that includes buying it. Mostly new except shocks and TR specific stuff. LOTS of time. So much I come up with excuses to not work on it anymore. The one man band gets tired after a few sets, or 5 years

pacecarta, are you getting that info from the engine pic? Thats cool if you can pick all that up from just a picture. Do you think 5K would be a good price?

The exhaust also looks pretty rusty. It looks just like mine. I am guessing there are pin holes up and down that exhaust..

If the car is rust-free I think its worth 5k. Hell, mine was full of rot and I still paid 2k for it.. But it was running...

Yea he's getting from the engine pic just look closely and you will see that what Paulie stated is spot on rad hoses are off boost pipes missing clamps batt. missing, he knows more about these things than we could ever hope to know about a Buick. I think 5k is ok depending on if there's rust also find out why it doesn't run becuse i baught mine not running my fix was easy but for all you know it's got a spun bearing or a wipped cam, bad head gasketks could be anything

After seeing the pics I think even 6 is reasonable. Most 6k cars are rust buckets.. It's alot easier and more fun to do an engine rebuild (worst case) then fixing doors,rockers,quarters,floors..

YUP! Rust repair is the only thing I've paid someone else to do so far-wasn't cheap, but at least its over with

for 5K and if you can get it running and it has no major issues, you would do well on your first turbo Buick purchase.

I would offer him 3500 as is. You would have to assume the motor is shot.
I would tell him 5000 if he gets it running, with no major issues like smoking the place out or knocking.
I would tell him 4500 if he lets me work on it for an hour to get it running.

Thanks everybody for your help. I finally found the one I want. Its a 87 hardtop with a little over 100k and has motor and trans newly rebuilt 2,000 and 4,000 mi. respectively. Nice interior new headlines carpets and custom floor mats, Many needed and added performance extras. Ram-air, oil & trans cooler, Be Cool radiator, ultimate performance chip, flowmasters, behind back seat frame stabilizers and much more, stored winters. Loaded with options. He has had it repainted recently and has behind the rear seat frame stabilizers. Checked her out today and it runs great. Just waiting for the apraisal to get done for the bank. Here are a few pics....

That's awesome. Congratulations. Car looks beautiful. Who did the motor and trans? Does he have receipts for all the work? And how did it drive?

He had a local shop here in michigan do the motor and trans. He has a TON of recepts on things that he has done over the past 10 years. Even pics of the different stages of the car being repainted. I can't remember what the kit was he bought for the engine rebuild, but I do remember him saying the company was from the south...maybe alamama and at the time it was one of the best rebuild kits. He had not fired it up in a couple months so when we hooked the battery back up it fired right up and ran real smooth. No ticking or anything like that. as far as driving goes the weather is bad up here right now so from just the little putting around i did it shifts firm and rides well. It has poly bushings all around.
