Can anyone tell me what the stock pushrod lentgh should be on 85 block using stock 85 shim gaskets?

would they be the same as stock 87's?

or do i really have to mesure with some kinda adj rod??

thanks
Chris P.

I think it was 8.65", I think.... I'd also think that '85s use the same push rod as '86-'87s.

push rods

I/m pretty sure they used the same pushrod. In 86 Buick dropped the deck height to allow the use of composition headgasket.

thanks for the responses gang, thats kinda what i was thinking
that the deck height diff along with the correct year gaskets equates out too same distance from lifter to rocker arm..

If anything has been changed or machined i would check for the exact length pushrod. Has it been decked, line honed, heads shaved or a replacement cam? Any of these can change the pushrod length. It doesn't take long to be sure!!:D Frank

hey Frank, thanks for the response, will be getting the proper guage to check the lifter preload, to make sure i have the proper length pushrods

thanks
Chris P.

P.S. if anyone knows about adjuusting the cam, with a cloyes + or- 4 degree timing set, please check my post here on tech
thanks
