putting in caps

Alright I'm new to the car and even newer to doing my own audio. To make my 3 1/2" Rockford Fozgate speakers soud better I was told to put 200uf caps on them. Well my dumbass didn't mark the positve and ground wires coming out of the stereo. I have a light and dark green wires on the passanger side. Light green (+) would be my guess. On the drivers side there is a dark blue and a faded red/orange. Dark blue (+) would be my guess. Am I right and if not can I cause any damage to anything by testing it?

Technically it does not matter. Though most prefer to install on the positive wire. That being the case, it's been a while but, I thought on GM the lighter colors are positive on the fronts and darker colors are positive on the rears. Hopefully someone else who has the color codes can provide concrete info. Anyone??
