I have come to the conclusion that I don't enjoy the smell of gas any more. so I am going to put cats back on the car. I have a 3" dp that goes into a 3" test pipe that goes into two 2 ½ exhaust. My question is:
1. Who makes the best high flow cat?
2. Should I use 1 3" or 2 2 ½ cats?

hello people; I don't know who makes the best flowing cat.
Could you clue me in on what's happening with the gas smell? Is it inside the car or out the tailpipe?

sorry i dont have an answer. but it sounds like youre running rich. with my electric dump open i dont smell fuel. (maybe im running lean:eek:)

I am getting the smell both In car and out of pipes at idle
I don't think the car is running rich the wide band o2 shows it in the 14.7 range

dynomax super cat flows really good, universal unit to cut down on cost, just get it welded in place. Then its a bolt on, bolt off cat.

I would get a 3'' but 2 1/2 would do just fine, just get a 3 to 2 1/2 adaptor welded in.

I really don't think not having a catalytic converter has anything to do with a gas odor...I would check for a fuel leak.

Hmmm, I switched from a stock exhaust to a SS, eliminated the cat and added an electric cut out and I have not noticed any gas smell in 5000 miles of summer driving.

Hi Flow Metal Matrix Catalytic Convertor

My suggestion would be to go with a Stainless Steel Metal Matrix Catalytic Convertor.
They flow huge cfm better than the old ceramic core cats. Are available with different cell counts which affect cfm. Lots of information posted on these.....use the search button.

hello people; Speaking of cats here's a co workers cat. problem.
He needed one for his suburban and Midas gave him a good price on a cat with a 5 yr. warranty. That one failed and he had to get another. Now the replacement replacement has failed but the warranty only covers the original so the new replacement only has a 90 day. He's pissed.

Thats why midas gave him such a good price on the cat. Never go to a chain store for auto repair. It's worse than going to the dealer cause the dealer may charge alot also but atleast they know what they're doin. Story: A lady I used to work with had her car towed to pep boys cause it died on her. They said alternator and charged $450 to replace it. Died again they said Battery this time, another $150. I looked at it turns out the charge wire came loose and rested against the serp belt. $600 in parts in labor for a $5 fix.
