Question about running w/ dump open

I've got a thdp w/ the dump pipe & although I've never ran it w/ the dump open I've heard that when running an open dump the boost will jump up 2 lbs.So if I can run 24 lbs of boost w/ 93 & alchy & get 0 knock & then open my dump pipe,my boost will jump up to 26? Will I have to raise my fuel pressure up a little or will I have to lower my boost by 2lbs to get it back to 24lbs. so I don't see any knock?

since the boost is precisely controlled by a controller to a set limit despite how fast it spools i doubt you would gain boost but it be easier for the engine to make boost. i THINK if your boost is set to say 15 lbs. and you have a plugged cat and can only make 12 lbs then an open dump will allow the engine to make its full potential boost its set to. if this makes any sense please tell me b/c it makes sense in my head. am i on the right track at least? btw you might have to play w/FP b/c ive heard that more exhaust flow leans it out more. If you open the dump, you will get more boost!!! I don't think you will get 2 lbs of boost. If I was you, I would drop the boost because it will be easier to have a street/strip car. If you go into the track, you just drop the boost, and then going out push it back up.

I usually gain about 2 psi by opening up the dump.

I usually get about 2 PSI when running open dump. But if 24 PSI is the most boost you can run for your octane level then you will need to turn it down 2 psi. If you can run 26 PSI boost for your octane level then could just crank your fuel pressue up 2 psi and run 26 all the time
