Question about TB coolant lines

I've been running plugs in the throttle body coolant lines for years now. I'm currently in the middle of a rebuild and got to thinking... why use the plugs when I could just loop a line between the outlet and inlet. Anyone see problems with this setup.
Also, is there a down side to blocking the lines? Never really thought about it before. I just figured why send hot coolant to the throttle body.
