I'm looking into prostars or draglites, but I have heard negative things about using them on the street. Are these really that bad to use for around town driving?

The only time you will have trouble would be if you went with the 3.5" skinnies up front and hit a lot of potholes, then you might get some cracking.

I ran the 4" front / 10" back draglites on the WS6 for months, and never had an issue. And I've had the 7" front / 8" back Pro Stars on the Chevelle for years now. I'm a big Weld fan :D

I ran a shop in So. Cali. that sold many wheels. We had a rash of problems with trucks and Weld wheels cracking. Got to the point we called them Welded wheels. Maybe they are better if driven in a straight line. Mark

Do yourself a favor DON"T BUY WELD WHEELS!!
I bought a set of their billet wheels about 6 years ago for my 89 GMC & all 4 started to crack & leak air after about a year and a half. Called them up to see what they would do and they said the warrenty was 1 year only and couldn't do any thing for me.
And that was a $300 wheel.
I friend of mine had a 12sec car and thrashed 3 rear and 1 front Pro Stars while they were still in warrenty.
I've got some American Eagle's on my truck now going on 4 years without a single problem.

I have a set on my T. I noticed cracks on both fronts right across the web a few years ago. I called Weld. They asked how old they were. I said 3 years. They said "well how long do you expect them to last?" Nuff said?

I've had the Draglites for about a year and they're fine.

I also have a pair of used Draglites with a 1992 date stamp on them. They're fine, too. I think the star configuration is where they're having trouble.

To have a wheel crack then call the company and they won't stand behind them is inexcusable..............I expect them to ...uuuuuummmmmm............... last?????!!!! I didn't know this problem existed. I feel bad for the ones who got hosed but I'm glad I read this! Drew:(
