Question for 200r4 experts

Make a long story short I inherited a car from a friend that past away. The trans was rebuilt several years ago and I always thought it shifted funny now that it is mine I would like to fix it. Sometimes it will not shift out of first gear unless you let off the gas. Most of the time a normal throttle it will not shift out of 1st until 3000 RPM then it will skip over second gear. If I push it hard it will not shift out of first unless you let off the pedal. I have tried adjusting the cable but when 1st seams right the rest of the shift points are way to soon. Is there a way to adjust the 1st shift point with out affecting the rest?

When you adjust the cabe you adjust all of the shift points. You need to talk to Chris or Dusty. It sounds like an internal problem. Hope you can get it figured out.

Will it shift into second under power? The 1-3 skip sounds like band is going away.

Adjusting the cable the old fashioned way is not enough sometimes. I had similar problems with my trans and adjusted the thing multiple times with no luck. You really need to adjust it and monitor the fluid pressure. Adjusting the cable on the 2004r and 7004r controls fluid pressure only. If you dont have enough, the trans will shift late or not at all until you let off the gas. This will also fry the trans much faster. It sounds like an issue in the TV system. Either the cable needs to be adjusted to the point where the pressure is right, or there is something not right in the TV internals in the valve body. In other words, if you are not getting the pressure you need after you have reached the max cable adjustment, your cable has stretched, or the valve in the TV system is not moving out enough to allow fluid to pass.
