So.. i have a question for you guys.. My old set up i was running a GTQ76 Q wheel and my best was 10.30 at 133mph at 30psi... i was lucky to have a great engine builder (Billy Anderson) who let me run his GTQ70 turbo for a little bit.. This past Friday i was able to pull off a 10.07 at 137 and also pull off a 139.75MPH on my second pass all at the same boost level 30..

I also removed 150lbs off the car and restalled the convertor to 3700.. i don't know if that could effect the ET and MPH that much.. do you think this will help my old 76 to go faster..

Anyway, what should i do... put on my newly rebuilt 76 and see what the car will do....

or sell it and purchase a 70 turbo and call it a day and push it even more

what does everything think???

thanks,
mike

IMO, removing the weight and restalling the converter is probably what made the huge increase in mph. 6 mph is a very nice increase with doing those two changes. Did you have to do a lot to the tune as well? Is your old 76 turbo a Precision 76GT-Q? If so, you should be able to see very similar results at lower boost levels the next time out with it. I would install the 76 and see. The 70 is just about done at around 32psi. Same goes for the 76, but it obviously should make more power at 32psi than the 70 will.

thanks Patrick.. Yes the my 76 is a GTQ too... i'm thinking the same. i just took off the 70 last night and it's boxed up to ship back to Billy.. i'm going to put on the 76 and head to a track on the 1st of June (friday night T&T).. hoepfully it will be cooler weather then.

You know, i didn't have to do a lot of tuning changes.. the biggest was that i had to take out a little fuel, like about 3 pounds.. other then that the car ran all the same settings as the 76 used.. i'm going to leave the boost the same and add a pound of fuel for this test run on the 1st..

I would advise caution on that, as the power difference between a 70 GTQ at 30psi and a 76 GTQ at 30psi can be significant. I would turn the boost down to around 24psi and go up from there if you plan on using the same exact tune as before. Better to be safe than sorry. You are going from a turbo that is capable of 850 fwhp to a turbo that is capable of 950 fwhp at 30-32psi range. If you left it alone, (Boost at 30 and tune along) you should see where the FAST would be adding fuel from mid range to redline.

:) ..

i was running 30 before on the 76.. BUT your right, i did step up to a 3 1/2 DP which is flowing more.. i'll make a 1/8 pass or less to see how the FAST handles it..

crossing my fingers that this turbo isn't to big, after having the chance to run that 70..

anyone looking for a newly rebuilt GTQ76 :)
