Quick question...I am tuning my car and want to run the car at around 17psi when I go to the track and work my way up. Should I just leave the knob alone at the #6 position? I was thinking that running lower boost like I stated would cause it to be real rich with the setting on #6???

Every combo is different but at 17 psi on 93 octane you should be fine with no alky. Try it with it off. If it knocks...theres your answer. Give it a little bump to #5. I think below position #5 its not getting enough voltage to spray alot anyway.

Master Jedi Razor will chime in and give you his input. Im just a grasshopper.

if it was me, i would leave the knob on 6 and tune around that. start with the boost low and start creeping it up. nothing wrong with the alky spraying. extra cooling and helping the **** 91 octane is a must. however i wouldnt be doing this at the track. i would be doing this where you can do 3rd gear roll ons in a safe place.

See one problem with 17 PSI is that your motor will run pretty fat with alcohol at that level.

A 16 lb street chip and a 25 lb alky chip have one thing in common. They both deliver the same amount of fuel into the motor.. meaning they both open the injectors the same amount.

So if you have a 25 lb alky chip or a 16 lb street chip.. and you try and run it with alky at 17 PSI.. it really wont make any real power. I dont know anyone running "just" 17 PSI with an alcohol system. Most are at least well over 20 PSI boost. Even so they still are a tad fat.

If your alky kit is "working". Crank it up at least past 20 PSI and the car should start coming around nicely. Lower than that.. you wont be impressed or happy. This is a limitation of the MAF setup on a Buick. There are other ways around this.. like conversion to SD, extenders, etc.. but that isnt the norm.

Hope this helps.

Yea my alky setup works perfect, and I figured the car would run fat as well. I should start at 20psi like you said then tune from there......thanks Julio

Your TT alky chip was probably burned for something like 22-23psi with alky. If you lower your boost, you won't be using all that fuel so you need to take fuel out through the chip. You don't need as much alky either, but you can leave it on the same setting. Adjust your WOT fuel setting in the chip (not the 1st gear fuel). If you make a WOT blast down the highway, you'll probably see well over 800 O2s on the scanmaster with the base chip settings at 17psi boost. Lower the WOT fuel setting in the chip 4% or so and make another WOT blast. Keep repeating and once you start seeing the O2s at 780-790 or so at 80mph you are in the ballpark.

Once you get the WOT fuel set, you can back the alky down some, but you'll need to add some WOT fuel back in to make up for it. For example, at 17psi you may be able to back the alky setting down to 3 but you may need to add 4% WOT fuel back in the chip.

When you are done, write these settings down and keep it handy (like in the glove compartment). You'll have one chip and alky setting for low boost and another setting for high boost. On my Red T, I have a tune for pump gas only, low boost with alky, and high boost with alky. For my tunes, I adjust the timing for each setup also so there are more things to track. The TT chips allow a lot of flexibility.

Sounds good....ima start out at 20psi.. then if it's rich remove fuel little by little and as I increase boost will add if need be...
